Scott was 36 when he sustained his head injury in
a high speed motorcycle accident in 2002. He was studying Visual Arts at
Southern Cross University at the time. After spending a year recovering from his
accident, Scott was able to return to university to continue his degree.
Although he creates artworks in several different
mediums, Scott found the familiar process of print making especially helpful
following his injury. He found working on his artworks in the studio after hours
to be cathartic and healing.
The themes of Scott’s artworks are varied.
Scott initially centred his art around the motorbike accident, but says he has
now begun to move away from the theme. Recently Scott has begun photographing
the beehives on his rainforest property.
Scott has plans to open a print studio on his 12
acre North Coast NSW property, with the cooperation of the North Coast Head
Injury Service. The print studio would be available for individuals who have
sustained a brain injury to use. Scott sees the studio as a way of “giving
something back”.
