Services:
A Community Access Program for adults with an acquired brain Injury. Including
Skill Development Courses, Individual Access Plans and Community Education.
Entry criteria:
Disability Type: Acquired Brain Injury
Geographical:
Some areas of the program can be only be accessed by people who reside within the
catchment area of Headway ADP. Others can be accessed regardless of residential location,
as long as the person can get to Headway
Age:
Must be aged between 16-55 years at time of referral
Must have acquired a brain injury between 10 and 50 years of age
Other:
Must be independent in toileting & feeding, or have attendant care support.
Must be medically stable. If a person is currently experiencing problems related to the
excessive use of alcohol or drugs, involvement in the program will be dependent on the
person providing evidence they are seeking some assistance to address these problems.

Waiting time: Usually 1 Term (approx. 10 weeks)

Cost to client: Fees are charged on a sliding scale, depending on a persons income and compensation status.

Other: Headway seeks to promote the rights of individuals who have acquired a brain injury, to provide opportunities for them to maximise independence and participation in the community and to address the long term needs arising from an acquired brain injury.
Participants must be willing to participate in the program and able to state a goal they wish to achieve, which falls within the identified programs of Headway.
