Information about the CTC

Liverpool is situated in the metropolitan area of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. It is situated approximately 40km to the South West of the central business district of Sydney and is readily accessible by public transport.

The Cancer Therapy Centre (CTC) is part of the Liverpool Hospital, which is a tertiary referral hospital and one of the teaching hospitals for the University of New South Wales Faculty of Medicine. All major medical disciplines are represented within the hospital including cardiothoracic surgery, neurosurgery, head and neck surgery, colorectal surgery, gastroenterology, cardiology, respiratory medicine, neurology, dermatology, gynaecology and paediatrics.

The hospital also provides tertiary referral facilities for the smaller hospitals within the South Western Sydney Area Health Service including Bowral, Campbelltown, Fairfield, Camden and Bankstown/ Lidcombe Hospitals.

Cancer Therapy Centre

The Cancer Therapy Centre at Liverpool Hospital is situated on the site of Liverpool Hospital. It has been open since April 1995. It provides full cancer services including haematology (5 full-time staff specialists), palliative care (1.0 full time staff specialists and 3.5 full-time community specialists), medical oncology (3.7 full-time staff specialists), radiation oncology (4.4 full-time staff specialists), psychology, social work, dietetics, nursing (including community nursing), speech therapy, occupational therapy and physiotherapy.

The centre has approximately 90 staff. There is a social club with regular social functions to facilitate good harmony within the group. Medical and radiation oncology clinics are also provided at Bankstown and Campbelltown. There are regular multi-disciplinary discussion clinics for the following malignancies:

Breast

Colo-Rectal

Oesophageal

Head and Neck

Lymphoma

Gynaecological Oncology

Lung Cancer

These are attended by a wide spectrum of people including Radiologists, Nuclear Physicians, Medical Physicians, General and Specialist Surgeons, Haematologists, Oncologists, Speech Therapy, Nursing etc.
