Making Appointments

The Cancer Therapy Centre is just adjacent to the Campbell Street entrance to Liverpool Hospital. The Oncology/Haematology ward is in the Alex Grimson Block of the hospital, a short distance away from the Cancer Therapy Centre. On your first visit you will need to call at the reception desk, immediately on your left as you enter. Here the clerical staff will ensure your records are accurate before seeing the medical specialists. To assist the Centre in the processing of your records, you can download, and print off the;

When attending the CTC on other occasions for a medical appointment or treatment you will also need to check in with reception to attend to Medicare billing matters, before being directed to the appropriate area. Patients with a booking to be admitted as an inpatient in the Oncology/Haematology ward will need to check with the ward clerk on that ward when they arrive.

Family members or another support person can attend medical appointments or chemotherapy appointments with your permission. However some treatment areas such as radiation machines are restricted to patients only. Other people are free to wait in the waiting areas, or other areas as the beverage room or resource/library area. Please call for Enquiries and Appointments / Bookings to organise a date and time for a consultation with the Specialist Medical Practitioner you have been referred to. Any subsequent appointments to meet with the Specialist and for any prescribed treatment can be made at the front reception.

Should your appointment need to be changed, a new appointment card will be mailed to your home address stating the date and time of your new appointment. Appointments

Appointments can be made for Medical Oncology (Dr Eugene Moylan, Dr Amanda Goldrick, Dr Stephen Della-Fiorentina, Dr Eva Segelov, Dr Elizabeth Hovey), Radiation Oncology (Dr Martin Berry, Dr Geoff Delaney, Dr Allan Fowler, A/Prof Michael Barton and Dr Andrew Kneebone, Dr Shalini Vinod), Palliative Care (Dr Amanda Goldrick), Social Work (Alison Pryor), Dietitian and Psychology (Gerald Au). Appointments can also be made with the multidisciplinary clinics. There is also a medical and radiation oncologist on call at all times for emergencies. They can be contacted through the switchboard at Liverpool Hospital on (02) 9828 3000.

New patients / new referrals can be booked in to see a specific specialist from 8.30am until 5.00pm Monday to Friday on (02) 9828 5180. a request for our staff to book a patient and notify the patient can be made by fax on (02) 9828 5299. Please ensure that all patients have a referral letter or one is delivered to the Cancer Therapy Centre prior to consultation. Please ensure that all documents and tests that are relevant to the referral are supplied. Please notify the staff if an interpreter is needed and, if so, the specific language needed.

It is suggested that all new patients arrive to the reception area 20 minutes prior to the consultation for the paper work to be done. Any problems related to the booking or administration of patients can be directed to the Office Manager on (02) 9828 5180. Follow-up appointments - Patients are requested that on arrival, they present themselves to the front desk area to notify staff of their arrival.


Interpreters

The Liverpool Cancer Therapy Centre have patients from ethnically diverse backgrounds. In order to give Non-English speaking patients the best health care, the doctor or other health care worker will arrange to have a qualified health care interpreter present at the appointment or initial treatment to allow full communication and exchange of information. Interpreters may also be arranged for subsequent visits to the Cancer Centre or on the Oncology/Haematology ward.
