In this space, I will try to bring to you some facts about food, some "yummy" recipes, a "take a look at" corner, presenting different foods, vegetables, fruits - so here we are ready to start. The focus on food is variety, that is a mix of fruits, vegetables, grains, cereals, legumes, meat, fish and dairy products and the variety should be across the range of each group, e,g fruit can be stone fruits, citrus or berries, but the nutritional effect of each one of this fruits can be different. We know that a balanced diet is linked to good health.
Nutrition related diseases such as coronary heart disease, cancer, strokes, high blood pressure, obesity, diabetes, osteoporosis etc, can be prevented by choosing your food wisely. The Dietary Guidelines for Australians formulated by National Health and Medical Research Council, 1992. Based on the guidelines, the Australian Nutrition Foundation has develop The Food Pyramid, well known to all of us.
