The new Paediatric Unit officially opened 27th October 2000. The configuration of
the unit is an 8 bed Adolescent Unit, 29 Paediatric beds including 6 high dependency
and a 10 bed Ambulatory Care Unit. On completion of the redevelopment at
Campbelltown Hospital, Paediatric Services will include co-located facilities
for outpatient clinics and allied health therapy services.
Specialist Paediatric Services are provided by: 3 Visiting Medical Officers and 3
Staff Specialists. One staff specialist is located in the Emergency Department,
one is a Community Paediatric position as well as a Senior Staff Paediatrician.
The Service is accredited for 3 Paediatric registrar and 5 resident medical officer
training positions on rotation from the New Childrens Hospital and Sydney
Childrens Hospital, as well as providing placement for medical students.

The paediatric unit is supported by a social worker, other allied health
disciplines and a playtherapist.
The nursing staff is a team of highly skilled registered and enrolled nurses and
they welcome the opportunity to provide experience for students and new graduates.
The unit participates in a Specialty Program with the Special Care Nursery and
Jasmine Cottage for post graduate nurses.
