Anxiety and Eating Disorders Treatment Clinics

Services provided:

Cognitive-Behavioural treatments are provided for the following disorders (according to DSM-IV diagnostic criteria):

Anxiety disorders

  • Panic disorder (group and individual treatment)

  • Panic disorder/agoraphobia (group and individual treatment)

  • Specific phobias (including blood/needle phobia, height phobia, animal phobias)

  • Social phobia (group and individual treatment)

  • Generalised anxiety disorder (group treatment)

  • Obsessive Compulsive disorder (individual treatment)

  • OCD spectrum disorders e.g. trichotillomania (individual treatment)

Eating disorders (individual treatment only):

  • Anorexia Nervosa

  • Bulimia Nervosa

  • Eating disorders not otherwise specified

How to refer:

Clients can be referred by a health professional, or can self refer (letters of referral will be answered when the client is seen). Initially the client will attend assessment with a psychiatrist. If the client has a primary anxiety or eating disorder, and would benefit from a cognitive behavioural intervention, they will be treated by a clinical psychologist.

The Macarthur Mental Health Service Anxiety & Eating Disorders Clinics are staffed by Masters-level Clinical Psychologists, with extensive experience in treating the above disorders.
