Nursing And Acute Services
Camden Hospital

Banksia Ward:

This is a 24-bed medical-surgical ward that provides specialist care for patients recovering from surgery and those with acute medical conditions.

Palliative Care Unit:

This is a 10-bed unit that provides specialist palliative care services. The unit has close links with the community palliative care team and is therefore, able to provide high level palliative care services.

Operating Theatres:

The Operating Theatres will provide specialist Day Surgery procedures for carefully selected patients, without admitting them to a ward for recovery. Patients treated in the theatre have their surgery performed and then after an appropriate period of observation are discharged home in the care of a family member or friend later in the afternoon.

Some examples of day surgical procedures performed in theatre include Laparoscopic Cholecystectomies, many Gynaecological procedures, Arthroscopies and other orthopaedic procedures as well as investigative procedures, such as bronchoscopies, colonoscopies and gastroscopies.

Dept of Emergency Medicine:

The Department of Emergency Medicine at Camden Hospital provides the same type of service as that offered at Campbelltown Hospital. The level of the service at Camden Hospital, in terms of acuity or severity of illness that might be managed is however, less than that available at Campbelltown. As such, patients requiring more specialised services are transferred to Campbelltown Hospital for their management

Security and Patient Services:

The Security and Patient Services staff at Camden provide the same function as their counterparts in Campbelltown Hospital.
