Mission

1.  Every staff member of the Division of Medicine is committed to providing, within the resources available, the best possible care and service to the patients in their Units and Departments.
2.  Every staff member is committed to the concept of continuous review and improvement of the quality and efficiency of patient care and service delivery.
3.  Every staff member ascribes to the key components of quality management, namely; the importance of the patient, the need for teamwork, the use of a scientific approach when seeking improvement.

Values

Quality:     We believe that our patients have the right to expect the best quality for services within the resources provided, and that quality and efficiency are dependent on the continuous process of evaluation and remedial action.

Teamwork:     We believe that clear and open communication within and across the Units, Departments, and the Division, as well as active collaboration and the attributes of teamwork listed below, are necessary requirements for a satisfying and productive work environment.

Respect:     We value the contributions of each individual, encourage the development of individual capabilities, and support each other in striving for excellence.

Courtesy:     We believe that courtesy, integrity, and ethical conduct are essential in all relationships.

Empowerment:     We believe that participation by employees in decisions and processes is an essential component of successful management of the Division.

Responsiveness:      We believe that a necessary component of quality care is a high level of recognition and responsiveness to the needs of those who use our services, and that an understanding of and a reasonable responsiveness to the needs of each other is a necessary component of a stable and satisfying work environment.

Recognition:     We believe that effective performance should be recognised.
