Ambulatory Care - What is it?

Ambulatory care is about treating patients, with suitable conditions, in places other than hospital, normally their own home in conjunction with local doctor.

Ambulatory care allows the patient to have a very active role in decision making about their health care in conjunction with a team of highly skilled professionals including doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapist, Social worker and Pharmacists.

People have a choice as to whether they would like to participate in the program and it is a service provided at no cost to the patient, although Medicare bulk billing is done in some cases.
