Home Page

The Macarthur Clinical Library services the Resource, Reference and Research needs for all Staff and Students on Clinical Placement in the Macarthur Area.

Staff ID is required to access the Library (Sorry, no ID, no access)

 

Registration

Macarthur Area Staff and Students (undertaking placement in the Macarthur Area) are eligible to borrow from Macarthur Clinical Library.

Patrons must complete a Borrower Registration Form. These forms are available from the Loans Desk or by contacting the Clinical Library.

Employee ID or Student placement ID is required for identification.

Loan Period

Most Library items are available for a 3-week loan period. Some Student Collections are available for a 2-week loan period. Patrons may borrow a maximum of 6 items.

Items may be renewed prior to the due date provided there are no reserves on the item.

Overdue Fines

Items kept past the due date will incur overdue fines of $1 per item / per day. Borrowing privileges will be suspended if there are any outstanding fines on patron records.

Clients are responsible for the cost for any lost or damaged items outstanding on their record.

Reserves - Books/Videos

Reserves may be placed on an item, which is currently out on loan. A Book/Video Request Form is located under Interactive Requests. This form may be used to request books or videos held anywhere in SSWAHS - Western Zone Libraries Network.

Items reserved from other SSWAHS - Western Zone Libraries may be collected from the Clinical Library.

Catalogue

The OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue) gives locations for books, audio/visual material and journals throughout SSWAHS is available through the Online Catalogue.

There is a designated PC in the Library reading area for patrons to view the OPAC and reserve items with their library card.

Macarthur Electronic Library

The Macarthur Electronic Library keeps staff informed of new resources, journal contents pages, information and internet sites of interest to Clinicians and Health Workers.

The Macarthur Electronic Library is updated every month.

Journal Alert Service

This Service is available to all Macarthur Area Staff Only.

Journal Alert Service is a service that allows staff to access current contents pages and request particular articles of interest via the internal mail without leaving their departments.

If you are interested in this service complete the Journal Alert Service Form and Fax 4634-3940 or Email back to the Clinical Library.

Electronic Resources

The Clinical Library has 6 PCs for staff/student use. The Internet is available from all PCs and is for work-related purposes only.

A log sheet needs to be signed before a computer is allocated to a patron.

Clinical Information Access Program (CIAP)

CIAP is a New South Wales Health initiative. It provides access to a range of databases as well as NSW Health Guidelines and links to other useful information.

Access is available through the Databases page.

CIAP is also available to all staff through the Intranet. Please contact the Library if you require the password.

  ProQuest - Health and Medical Complete Database

ProQuest is an on-line database which allows users to access over 700 full text journal articles.

It is available only through the Library PCs which have Internet access (password required). Articles may be printed, downloaded to disk or emailed as needed.

Inter-Library Loans

Items not held within the SSWAHS - Western Zone Libraries Network maybe requested through the Inter-Library Loan system. This service is for Macarthur Health Service Staff only.

There is a limit of 6 journal article requests per client.

Materials obtained outside the Gratis Network may incur charges passed on to the client.

An interactive Journal Article Request Form is available to request journal articles.

Literature Search Requests

The Clinical Library offers staff a service where a Librarian will undertake Literature Searches on a particular topic/subject for research, study, clinical or patient information using a range of databases. Each search will take 5 working days to complete.

An interactive Literature Search Request Form is available to request a literature search.

Photocopying & Printing Charges

Photocopying is available from the Library at a charge of 10 cents per copy for A4 & A3.

All printing from PCs is 5 cents per sheet.

Macarthur Clinical Library Fees & Charges

Floppy disks may be purchased at $1 and CD ROM’s for $2.

Room Bookings

The Clinical Library manages all Room Bookings for Campbelltown and Camden Hospital Sites. Rooms can be viewed through Public Folders: All Public Folders > SWSAHS > Macarthur > Room Bookings.

  Conference Centre

The Clinical Library also manages the Conference Centre with an Auditorium, 2 Seminar rooms and kitchen facilities.

Room Bookings can be made by completing a Room Booking/Changes Request Form.

Equipment/Furniture Bookings

Audio/Visual Equipment Loan Service for Macarthur Health Service staff only.

Overhead Projectors, TV/DVD/Video, CD Cassette Player, Portable PA System, LCD Projectors, Portable Screen/Whiteboards and Laptop are available.

All audiovisual equipment are available for loan during Library hours only and must be used on Campbelltown Hospital grounds only, no after hours access. A borrowing agreement must be completed when using new equipment.

If you require extra chairs or tables for your meeting or function at Campbelltown Hospital they need to be booked through the Library by completing an Equipment/Furniture Booking Request Form (sorry, no booking, no furniture).

Please contact Des Hulme (Environmental Services) Ext: 43752 or Pager: 39205 at least four days before the booking if you need to have furniture moved or setup.

All furniture and equipment must be returned after use. If any furniture or equipment goes missing or is damaged a replacement cost for the lost/damaged items will be charged to your cost centre.

Equipment Bookings can be made completing a Equipment/Furniture Booking Request Form.
