Maria Seger Memorial Trauma Nursing Scholarship

Here is an opportunity for all registered nurses to gain experience in trauma nursing care and delivery of clinical care in trauma systems.  Check this page for more information, email the Trauma Nurse Co-ordinator or call 61 2 9828 3931.

Emergency Department Nurses

The emergency department organises interchanges, of up to four weeks, between hospitals for nursing staff employed at other hospitals who wish to come and gain experience in trauma care at Liverpool Hospital. Contact the Trauma Nurse Co-ordinator.

Trauma Ward & Brain Injury Unit Nurses

Similarly, both these units are keen to accept nurses with an interest in Trauma who would like to improve their skills. Contact the Trauma Department.

Rural GP Training Program

The Trauma Department offers the opportunity to Rural General Practitioners to attend for up to a week to update their trauma skills. We also try to facilitate additional exposure, on request, to other units such as Obstetrics.

Medical Student Electives in Trauma

Liverpool Hospital is one of the few Australian Hospitals currently offering a pro-active six week teaching course for final year overseas medical students wishing to do their elective term in Trauma. They work hard, get lots of practical experience and exposure to all our educational sessions. Yet they still manage to see and enjoy all Sydney has to offer.

If interested please send your email to the Director, Dr. Michael Sugrue, of the Trauma Department.  This will be automatically copied to the secretary in charge, Thelma Allen.

Honorary Medical Visits

We are happy to have national and international doctors visit.
