Working with children and young people at STARTTS

Children and young people are referred to STARTTS by families and service providers.
Our policy is to assess children and young people within two weeks of referral, and to respond to their needs within the shortest possible time.

Whilst children and young people are particularly vulnerable to trauma and dislocation, they generally respond rapidly to treatment, and early intervention is particularly effective. Having addressed and integrated past trauma, children and young people are better able to get on with the developmental tasks of exploring their own identity and their relationship to others, and to the world around them. STARTTS assists children and young people with the process of resettlement and expanding social networks by support provided to their families, and through our youth programme.

STARTTS services for children and young people:

  • Individual counselling
  • Family therapy
  • Group therapy
  • Youth camps
  • Excursions
  • Liason with, and support for, other service providers
