The Management Committee of Friends of STARTTS are elected annually, at the Annual General meeting. They meet every month, in Sydney, Australia. Any members of Friends or other interested parties are welcome to attend. Sub committees are formed for special projects and are open to all members. Currently the Management Committee is comprised of talented individuals with skills in law, community management, psychology, physiotherapy, Education and Training, Policy Services and refugee support work.

Vacant Positions On Friends of STARTTS Management Committee

Duties can include:

  • Attending committee meetings, planning days and the AGM
  • Participating in discussion, setting policies and making decisions
  • Participating in some working parties if possible
  • Representing the organisation and acting as a spokesperson from time to time
    Taking part in fundraising activities
  • Participating in training on STARTTS services, and working with survivors of torture and refugee trauma.

Essential Criteria

  • Knowledge of or interest in refugee communities in NSW and the issues affecting their resettlement process.
  • Motivation and commitment to raising awareness of refugees issues in the community.
  • Good communication skills and openness to other people's views

Desirable Criteria

  • Skills in financial management and planning
  • Marketing and promotion
  • Community development skills
  • Familiarity with community sector and working with management committees
  • Experience in working with the media and managing campaigns
  • Fundraising experience
