video depicts the stories of three families and their experiences
with torture and trauma.
Part 1 (My
father's daughter) looks at people from Indo-Chinese backgrounds,
and the way previous traumatic events have impinged on their settlement
in Australia. This story focuses on the difficulties Mai and
her father experience after their escape from Vietnam.
Part 2 (The
two deaths of Raul Pacheco) is the story of Raul Pacheco, a
Latin American man with a history of torture since childhood.
Raul speaks in detail to a counsellor about his past, his new life
in Sydney and the family he left behind.
In Part
3 (The Survivor), Zalmai Haidary speaks of his own experience
with torture in Afghanistan. The picture is shot in a mock
prison cell portraying chilling details of torture. This story
is about rebuilding lives and survival.
In addition,
the trainer's kit provides you with a range of complementary training
materials to help you conduct training sessions on torture, trauma
and refugee issues.
