Professional Development
Programme Registration Information
Prerequisite Workshop
STARTTS workshops provide an introduction to some of the specialist
areas of working with survivors. It is therefore essential that
participants have a basic understanding of refugee issues prior
to attending STARTTS specialist workshops .
To attend STARTTS professional development courses, all participants
must have attended the one day prerequisite workshop– Introduction
to Working with Torture and Trauma Survivors.
We recognise that many people currently working with refugee clients
or communities come to STARTTS workshops with a wealth of knowledge
and experience from years of practice experience in the field. Because
of this, the requirement for the prerequisite workshop may be waived
if participants can demonstrate a good working knowledge of the
material covered in the workshop.
If you would like to register for a specialist course without attending
the introductory workshop, please discuss this with Melinda Austen,
Clinician/Trainer.
Timing:
All Workshops run from 9.30 am – 4.00 pm. Registration is between
9.00 am and 9.30 am. Please ensure that you arrive before 9.30 am
as all workshops will begin on time
Register Early
Workshops are limited to a maximum of 12 places to ensure an optimum
learning environment (room to move, hear, speak and think). If enough
people are interested in attending a workshop, additional workshops
can be scheduled.
Programme Changes
We endeavour to facilitate all workshops as in the calendar. At
times however, if minimum numbers are not reached, workshops may
be cancelled or rescheduled. In this event, participants may transfer
to another workshop or request the return of registration payment
. Money will unfortunately not be returned if participants are unable
to attend the workshop for private reasons.
Catering
A catered lunch (with vegetarian dishes) and morning tea is provided
for workshops held at STARTTS, Carramar. Lunch is available from
local restaurants for participants registered in workshops held
at Auburn. This is reflected in workshop cost.
