Occupational Therapy focuses on developing and maintaining peoples skills to carry out
their every day occupations such as work/school, self-care,
leisure and play. Occupational therapy aims to restore,
enhance or adapt the child's abilities and functioning in the
family, at school, with everyday activities and during play.
Children who would benefit from our service are those who are
having difficulties in the following areas:
- Handwriting neatness and legibility
- Pencil grasp
- Completing written work
- Fine motor skills ie cutting
- Organisation skills
- Dressing skills
- Clumsiness and awkwardness during gross motor
- activities ie, skipping, jumping etc..
Services offered
Center based service involving:
- Assessment
- Reviews
- Individual sessions
- Group therapy (preschool, ready for school & handwriting)
- Development of home programs
- Consultation to schools and preschools
Limited School based service involving:
- Consultation
- In-services and education
- Screenings
Client Group
- Children aged 3-12 years at time of referral with learning and coordination difficulties.
- Those residing in the Fairfield Local Government area.
- Not receiving occupational therapy elsewhere.
- Community groups or schools within the Fairfield Local Government area requiring education or consultation.
