DISC is a specialised primary health care facility for drug
users, and operates within a harm minimisation philosophy.
The service aims to reduce the spread of HIV, Hepatitis C
and other blood borne viruses and associated health, social
and economic harms arising from drug use. It also aims to
minimise any negative impacts associated with 'drug-using
lifestyle' maintenance issues. Services provided range from
prevention-focussed through to treatment-based.

- Medical and Nursing Clinical services.
- Counselling and case management;
- Provision of safer sex supplies;
- "Home detoxification" support worker for D.I.S.C.
- Information and referral
- A street-based health outreach service;
- Needle Syringe Program
- A range of support, health education programs.
- A Disposal Project focusing on needle clean-up in the
Cabramatta and Fairfield LGA
Client Group
DISC services target injecting drug users (especially sex
workers, "at risk" young people, Indo-Chinese, Non-English
Speaking Background and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander
drug users) who frequent the Cabramatta area. In addition
to direct work with clients their families and friends, DISC
works collaboratively with the broader Cabramatta community
around drug-related issues
Hours of operation
DISC is open from 9.30-6.00pm Monday to Friday. A Worker
on Duty provides an intake service during these hours.

The service employs a number of bilingual Drug and Alcohol
Workers who speak Vietnamese, Spanish. One Drug and Alcohol
